I look at the life of Jesus as an example of different levels of friendship. He had twelve disciples who followed Him closely, but within that group, Peter, James, and John seemed to share a deeper connection with Him. While John might not be described as Jesus’ best friend, he appeared to be a trusted and favored one. From this example, I intentionally build my support network to include connected friends, an inner circle, and my closest friends. (Cindy Miller, "Necessary Friends," Reflections January/February.)
