It’s the holiday season once again! Are you dreading it? Sometimes what are supposed to be happy times can be depressing. Maybe the past year holds memories you want to forget. Perhaps feelings of dread rather than excitement flood your spirit. The world seems chaotic—out of sync with what is right and godly.

Take heart, the principles of God’s Word never change. His law is constant and will always work. The last several verses of Romans chapter one describe humanity’s catastrophic downfall, which begins with not giving God glory and—can you believe it—being unthankful!

The psalmist wrote, “Bless the Lord at all times” (Psalm 34:1). Is that possible? Even in dark times?

Thanksgiving has a way of liberating us from the cold grip of fear. It reassures us that God hears us, saves us from trouble, and brings angels of deliverance. Can you believe something we might consider insignificant, like thanksgiving, can have such amazing results? Did you know being unthankful can result in the total degeneration of humanity? (Read Romans 1:21-32.)

It’s called “Thanksgiving.” It’s a biblical principle. It’s the will of God (I Thessalonians 5:16). It’s a good thing to do (Psalm 92:1). Furthermore, being thankful is good for your health. Studies have shown it can result in better relationships, less depression, a sense of well-being, and much more. Are you sad, frustrated, or uptight? Try thankfulness—it works even in difficult times.

Happy Holidays!
